I grew up in Texas around the water and boats since I could walk and started sailing in my teens. My first job was in a boat repair shop in 1964. But I really started sailing after college by crewing Catalina 27 and ended up racing for three years. This experience was a new revelation about the challenge and joy of sailing.
At the 1985 Dallas boat show, my wife and I saw a brand new Morgan 43 going into charter in St. Thomas. We said “Let’s go for it”. That first charter really changed our lives and we chartered for the next 15 years in the BVI’s, the Grenadines, Greece, and Tahiti.
I started selling boats in 1998 in Texas until we found the boat of our dreams and decided that we should be close to the ocean. We chose Miami. I got my Captain’s license and began at Florida Yacht Charters & Sales in Miami in 2002. I licensed as a yacht broker, captain, and instructor. We have sailed Biscayne Bay, the Keys, the Bahamas, and the Intercoastal and completed a circumnavigation of the Caribbean in 2013.
I have been able to help a lot of people over 20 years achieve their own dreams, and in doing that have developed an understanding of what people want and what is important. From an 8 foot sailing dinghy to a 40,000 pound ocean cruiser and all boats in between, it has been a great learning experience with many more to come. Let me put my experience to work for you.
